Pain + Triumph: Lived Xpérience Vécue Journey
April, 2023 - Toronto Always a "wanna-be" artist because I was not able to devote my life to writing and painting because of "reality" issues; yet, I have been writing, drawing, and painting my whole life anyway. Makes me feel happy, human or both (simple and complex) in the darkest of times. Last year (2022)I decided to submit one of my pieces to a call for submission from Headwaters Arts in Alton Hills, Ontario Canada (literally 30 minutes before the midnight deadline, as I had put it off for weeks, too scared to apply!) I clicked "send" at 11:59 p.m.! I called my entry Pain + Triumph: The Lived Experience Journey. To my sheer joy and disbelief, my piece was selected for entry! Then, it sold. I later found out my friend bought it so she could gift it back to me, but the fact that the first piece I ever submitted to an art show was accepted made me feel like a real artist! My art has always been rooted in my mental health journey ( which spans from 'failed' entrepreneurship to homelessness) and this process gave me the courage to register our bilingual, courageous social enterprise: LxV: Lived Xperience Enterprises, Inc. LxV: Les Entrerprises Xpérience Vécues, Inc. This is the story of the birth of LxV.art . I hope LxV.art will grow as my own courage will in 2024 to reach out to partners!
